Love After War
I hold the weight of your segmented heart
as it begins to disintegrate, ashes and dust
slipping through my fingers, I clench my fists with
all I have as the blood pools around my feet.
Your eyes want nothing more than to see me,
but I watch them struggle against the ghosts
the desert wind howls between us and I feel
the heat as a warm breath and it staggers me,
with the lingering scent of death.
I step through the fire and cross the bridge of
memories and nightmare to bring you home to me,
with pythons grace and unwavering strength my arms
eclipse around you.
I know your mind has been blown apart
like shrapnel embedded into bone,
I sa
